Support for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) led by Pierre Poilievre in Ontario province has risen to 51 percent, according to a recent poll.
The survey by Canadian research and analytics firm Leger polled more than 1,500 Canadians from Sept. 6 to 8. It revealed that if Canada would hold federal elections today, 51 percent of respondents from Ontario – the country’s most populous province with 121 Members of Parliament (MPs) alone – would vote for the CPC. Only a quarter of respondents from the province said they would vote for Liberal Party of Canada (LPC), while 17 percent of Ontarians polled said they would vote for the New Democratic Party (NDP).
The Leger poll also found that 45 percent of Canadians would vote for the CPC. Twenty-five percent said they would vote for the LPC, while 15 percent said they would vote for the NDP. According to LifeSiteNews, “this is the highest amount of support the Conservatives have had overall in over a decade.” (Related: Documents reveal INFILTRATION by Beijing operatives in Canada’s 2019 and 2021 federal elections.)
Moreover, the poll’s results found that over half of Canadians – 54 percent – believe that the CPC under Poilievre “will win the next federal election.” In contrast, only 15 percent believe the ruling LPC under Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will win.
According to the pro-life news outlet, the LPC under Trudeau is “looking to delay the 2025 federal election by a few days in what many see as a stunt to try and secure pensions for MPs who are projected to lose their seats.”
“Approximately 80 MPs would qualify for their pensions should they sit as MPs until at least Oct. 27, 2025, which is the newly proposed election date. The election date as it stands now is set to happen on Oct. 20, 2025.”
The Leger poll is the first mainstream poll to post results after Jagmeet Singh, the leader of the NDP, withdrew his official support for Trudeau and the LPC on Sept. 4.
“The deal is done. The [LPC is] too weak, too selfish and too beholden to corporate interests to stop the [CPC] and their plans to cut. But the NDP can,” he wrote on X. “Big corporations and CEOs have had their governments. It’s the people’s time.”
Singh also included a video to accompany his announcement, where he lambasted the incumbent Canadian leader.
“Trudeau has proven again and again he will always cave to corporate greed. The [LPC has] let people down. They don’t deserve another chance from Canadians.”
Despite the move opening up the possibility of an NDP-CPC alliance, Singh shot down the Conservative leader – calling him an even bigger “threat” than the incumbent. Nevertheless, Poilievre can rest easy knowing that the Indian-born Singh heeded his request to withdraw support for the LPC.
In late August, the CPC leader called on the NDP head to pull his support for the ruling LPC. Poilievre wrote that the move could trigger an election this fall, given that Canadians “can’t afford or even endure another year of this costly coalition.”
“No one voted for you to keep Trudeau in power. You do not have a mandate to drag out his government another year,” the CPC head wrote in his letter to Singh. He referenced the NDP’s informal coalition with the LPC government that began last year, in which Singh agreed to keep Trudeau in power until the next mandated election in October 2025.
