Rev. Marty Grisham of Loudmouth Prayer Ministry discussed how to live a lifestyle of prayer as a believer during the Sept. 13 episode of “America Unhinged” on Brighteon.TV.
Filling in for host Dr. John Diamond, Grisham said Christian believers can hear a lot of wonderful and insightful things from the Holy Spirit when the Lord speaks to His people through the Holy Bible.
Aside from the Bible, the reverend added that God also gives people the spoken word. Grisham shared how God has spoken to him many times about America and the Church, the Body of Christ.
“When He speaks to us, He gives us insight of where the Church is supposed to be going. Corrections, direction, instruction, things along those lines,” said Grisham. “So as God speaks to us, we take what He speaks to us, we mix it with the written word of God. And we put that together in prayers because we want to pray.”
According to the Loudmouth Prayer founder, a believer needs to have faith in both the Word of God and the Spirit of God. When believers learn to work with both, they can interact with God the Father through His Son Jesus every single time and do it according to His rulebook, the Holy Bible.
He stated that when believers open the Holy Bible, they will find out about who God is, who He says believers are, how believers are to communicate and how believers are to have fellowship.
Grisham pointed out that prayer is an intimate time of communication and fellowship with God. No matter what believers are doing, they can still have intimacy, prayer, communication and fellowship with God throughout the day through what he calls “constant contact.”
Sins, problems, issues, physical pain and other excuses that people make are the lies the Devil uses so that people won’t have fellowship with God. Even longtime Christians who have not been growing in their walk, relationship, fellowship and constant contact with God have been convinced by Satan that they are sinners.
According to Grisham, people don’t have a prayer life because of sin consciousness – which arose when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command not to eat the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. This eventually led to the separation between God and man.
Despite this, the reverend added that a person can always come home to the Father, just like the prodigal son.
“Our loving heavenly Father, Jehovah, wants us no matter what’s going on in our life, no matter what sin, problem, persecution or situation we are in. He wants us to come and be with him and talk with him.”
Grisham also stated that God can provide us with answers to our problems, but people need to talk to Him and hear what He has to say – given His omniscience.
However, a person must have fellowship with God first so that He can help bring healing and the grace to overcome sin and sinful nature through the power that comes from Him. (Related: Prayer can help bring healing, say researchers.)
Grisham said when the Lord Jesus came to bring salvation to the people, He came and gave us the ability to set aside our sinful nature, the sinful mindset and the sinful consciousness.
