5 Ways society gets you to stop thinking

For thousands of years, human beings have been slowly but surely enslaving themselves; not by way of ball and chain but rather psychological and spiritual bondage. Things such as constant warfare, greed, corruption, and partisan politics all act as a prison cell for all of humanity, and the more time that goes by the thicker the steel bars become. Researcher and teacher of natural law Mark Passio explained that there are five traps that are often used to shut down and limit human consciousness. They are as follows:

1. Politics

While discussing and debating the issues of our time is an essential component of American democracy, there is no denying the fact that modern day politics is corrosive and utterly divisive. People tend to categorize themselves with either “republican” or “democrat,” and all ideas that do not align with the party’s core agenda are immediately discarded without a second thought. Identity politics is indeed a trap, and it has caused increased levels of stress, pressure and conflict at virtually every level of society.

2. Religion

Millions of people across the world take religion very seriously, and in most cases, this is something that should be encouraged rather than discouraged. However, like identity politics, many people have become trapped behind religion and the deeply rooted values that come with it. Furthermore, some people have taken the concept of life after death and used it as an excuse to ignore the quality of life that they are living right now.

3. Scientism

While religion can at times prevent people from thinking outside of the realm of the Divine and the text of certain holy books, science has a tendency to produce the same effects. In fact, there is a strong case to be made that science itself has turned into a religion, where ideas are considered through a long process that includes a mix of peer reviews, corporate and monetary influence, and inflated egos. Because of this ever-expanding reliance on the scientific community, there is starting to become no room whatsoever for long-held traditions and beliefs, thus limiting debate and ultimately preventing human progress. 4. The New Age Movement

The New Age Movement is just as big of a trap as the previous three items on this list because it abandons genuine scientific information for feel good platitudes, which ultimately prevents people from taking action when it comes to issues that need to be addressed. Mark Passio listed the ten tenets of the New Age Movement:

  • Ignore the negative
  • Never get angry
  • It’s all one, so it’s all good
  • You can never really know
  • Accept injustice, never resist
  • A watered-down law of attraction
  • Turning the other cheek (it evens out the scars)
  • Chaos should be feared
  • We must feel good all the time
  • Truth doesn’t need to be defended

5. The Monetary System

You would be hard-pressed to find someone today who doesn’t consider making money to be one of the most important things in life. Many people, including some corporate executives and business owners, let this desire to make money completely take them over, to the point where virtually everything else becomes unimportant or even irrelevant. While it would be unproductive to dissuade individuals from making as much money as they can, it is also worth considering that the monetary system has opened the door for countless schemes, scams, fiat systems, debt-enslavement programs, frauds and thefts. In these ways and more, the monetary system has essentially enslaved the human mind and has arguably hindered progress over the past several thousand years.
